Calgary Co-op Welcomes New Directors To Board

Results of 2018 Director Election announced at Annual Meeting

 

April 10, 2018 Calgary, Alberta – Calgary Co-operative Association Limited (“Calgary Co-op”) hosted its 61st Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 5, 2018.   

During the meeting, the results of the 2018 Director Election were announced. Three new directors, Lori Ell, Roy Goodall and Lisa Wise were elected to serve a three year term on the Calgary Co-op Board of Directors.

“Our Board is pleased with the continued interest in our co-operative,” says Patricia McLeod Q.C., Board Chair, “There were five excellent candidates, and our members elected three of them to serve on Calgary Co-op’s Board for the next three years.”

“With the election of the three candidates,” continues McLeod, “two will be serving in their second consecutive terms – Lori Ell and Lisa Wise, and one – Roy Goodall is returning to the board, having already served two previous terms.”

The Calgary Co-op Board of Directors consists of nine directors and includes: Patricia McLeod Q.C., Board Chair; Lori Ell, Vice Chair; Lisa Wise, Secretary; Cindy Andrew, Elaine Bereziuk-Smith, Mike Dalton, Roy Goodall, Mike Lambert, and Peggy LeSueur.

During the Annual Meeting, Calgary Co-op members received an update on the ten year strategy, which was launched in 2015.  “As we continue on our ‘good to great’ strategic journey, we differentiate ourselves from our competitors through inspired team members who go out of their way to deliver ‘Awesome’ customer experiences every day,” says Ken Keelor, CEO. “We are also very focused on our unique and important role in supporting key local stakeholders in Calgary and surrounding areas – local producers, community organizations, and locally hired employees.”

The financial results for Calgary Co-op’s financial year ending October 28, 2017, were announced. Total sales were $1.196 billion compared to $1.173 billion in 2016. “This $23 million or 2% year-over-year increase is attributable to our petroleum division,” said Paul Harrison, Chief Financial Officer. “In 2017, retail fuel prices averaged 95.6 cents per litre as compared to 88.5 cents per litre in 2016.”
