Chili-rubbed Bacon Double Cheeseburgers

Total Time:

30mins

Prep:

10mins

Cook:

20mins

Skill Level:

Easy

Ingredients

  • 4 chuck or plant based patties
  • 4 - 8 slices bacon, halved crosswise
  • 2 Tbsp. barbecue spice rub or chili powder
  • salt
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 - 4 hamburger buns or Good Bread Barnstorm Brioche burger rolls, Knaughty Pretzel buns or Right as Rain onion buns
  • lettuce, tomato and your choice of condiments

How to Make It

Set a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat. While you cook the bacon, rub the burger patties all over with barbecue rub or chili powder, and sprinkle with salt. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, pour off any excess fat and cook the patties in the same pan for 8-10 minutes, or until just cooked through. Top with cheese and cover with a lid or piece of foil for another minute to allow the cheese to melt.

Serve the patties on the buns, making them doubles if you like, and top with the bacon, lettuce and tomato (if you like), and your choice of condiments.
